Coaching Staff
Dr. Dan Rowan brings collegiate hockey experience and decades of community involvement to UNR Hockey. A former player at Norwich University, he continues to support and grow the sport in Northern Nevada.
Joel Grace leads UNR Hockey with a background in business leadership and community development. An active Reno hockey coach and player, he is dedicated to growing the game and building a strong program culture.
Ryan Shmyr is a former professional hockey player with experience in the AHL, ECHL, and international leagues. He brings elite-level knowledge and a physical, competitive mindset to player development.
Anthony Tyrrell brings 30+ years of playing experience and is a current Reno Ice Raiders player. He focuses on skill development, passion for the game, and mentoring the next generation of players.
Matt Robinson brings a lifetime of hockey knowledge to the Nevada Men's Hockey coaching staff. A Dallas, Texas native with 27 years of playing experience, Robinson currently suits up as a forward for the Reno Ice Raiders senior hockey team while giving back to the game through coaching at the collegiate level.
